Causative Verbs: Make, Have, Get, Help, and Let

Causative verbs are used when a person performs an action by forcing another person to complete the action. In English Make, Have, Get, Help, and Let are used as Causative Verbs.

As causative verbs, Make, Have, Get, Help, and Let follows different structures which are given below:

HAVE/GET

Sub	HAVE	somebody	verb word
I	had	my sister	cook	our dinner.

Sub	GET	somebody	to verb
I	got	my sister	to cook	our dinner.

Sub	HAVE/GET	something	verb word
I	had/got	our dinner	cooked	tonight.

MAKE/LET

Sub	MAKE	somebody/something	verb word
I	made	my brother	pay	our electricity bill.
I	made	the printer	work

Sub	LET	somebody/something	verb word
Principal	let	us	go	early from school.
He	is	letting	the machine	cool

Help

Sub	HELP	somebody	verb word/to verb
Liza	helped	her mother	cook/to cook	the lunch.
