20 most important rules of Right Form of Verb 

Rule-01:  Preposition + (Verb+ing)

·         My brother is fond of visiting historical places.
·         Complete your homework before leaving the class.

Ruel-02: To + Verb (present form)

·         We eat to live.
·         Learn English language to get a good job.

Rule-03:  addicted to, accustomed to, get used to, be used to, with a view to, look forward to, devoted to, owing to, object to + (verb+ing)

·         Avoid all your friends who are addicted to smoking.
·         I have minimized my daily expenses with a view to buying a new motor bike.

Rule-04:  While + (verb+ing)/ continuous tense

·         While walking in the garden, I saw a super big python.
·         All of my family member stared shouting while I was reading an interesting story.

Rule-05:  Modal + verb (present form)

(Modal verbs: can, could, may, might, shall, should, need, dare, ought to, will, would, must, have to, used to)
·         I used to play cricket every afternoon.
·         We have to save money for our future.

Rule-06:  Money/ Distance/ Time + singular verb

·         50 miles is a long way.

Rule-07:  BE (am, is, are, was, were, been, being, be) + VPP = PASSIVE

·         Our school was established in 1978.
·         America was discovered by Christopher Columbus.

Rule-08:  Modal + be + VPP = PASSIVE

·         Mathematical problems can be solved easily by computer.
·         A large classroom will be built by the college authority.

Rule-09:  Have, has, had + VPP = PERFECT TENSE

·         We have already finished our homework.
·         The patient had died before the doctor came.

Rule-10:  Often, regularly, usually, sometimes, always, very often etc. = PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE
Sub (3rd Person singular) + verb (s/es) Sub (others) + verb

·         We often swim in the river.
·         My uncle visits sea beach regularly.
·         People always like the good persons.

Rule-11:  Yesterday, Last (night, day), once, ago, long since = PAST INDEFINITE TENSE         

·         Last week he went to Dhaka.
·         Once upon a time there was a lazy king.

Rule-12:  Now, at this moment = PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE        

·         He is singing a song now.

Rule-13:  Just, just now, already, yet, ever, recently = PRESENT PERFECT TENSE      

·         We have already finished our homework.
·         Haven’t you solved the problem yet?

Rule-14:  Tomorrow, next day, next week, next, coming days= FUTURE TENSE            

·         We shall arrange a study tour next month.
·         Our English Teacher will discuss Gerund in the next lecture.

Rule-15:  Mathematics, physics, gallows, ethics, electronics, dynamics, news etc are singular subject.
Singular Sub + Singular Verb

·         Mathematics is a very easy subject. (don’t use ‘are’)
·         News spreads at wind speed.

Rule-16:  Somebody, Someone + Singular verb   but    Some boys / players etc + Plural Verb

·         Somebody knows where the treasure is.
·         Some employees are not respectful to our organization.

Rule-17:  Trousers, scissors, people, spectacles, cloths, goods, headquarters, vegetables, laws, police, cattle, folk, circumstances, gentry etc are always plural and they follows a plural verb.

·         People are very much loyal to ruling government.

Rule-18:  Can’t stand, can’t help, can’t see, worth, it is no use/good, can’t bear + (verb + ing)

·         Monira can’t help falling in love with the crazy poet.
·         It is worth investing for education.

Rule-19: We use ‘verb + ing’ after the following verbs

advise             dislike              deny
admit               consider          delay
allow                resist               understand
avoid               imagine            miss
appreciate       enjoy               suggest
permit              reject               practice

For example:

·I don’t enjoy playing cricket.
·We will admit overeating.
·Manager considers paying tk 500 daily.

Rule-20: We use ‘to+verb’ after the following verbs

happen,           hope,               learn,
manage,          ask,                 decide,
demand,          forget,              neglect,
offer,               remember,      seem,
try ,                  want                plain,
prepare,           promise,
For example:
·People want to fulfill the basic needs first.
·Student should try to speak English daily.
